| Councils CLACKMANNANSHIRE
Unemployment is 3.3%, above the Scottish average, as the area has struggled to replace jobs since the decline of its traditional mining, brewing, and textile industries. The Beauly to Denny power line will cut through Clackmannanshire and several major windfarms are planned, attracting much opposition. Five wards will return three councillors each, with the SNP looking to overtake Labour, and the Conservatives hopeful of gaining extra seats. Labour and SNP are likely to continue to dominate, but it could be so close that independents, if elected, will hold the key to power. |
