| Councils FALKIRK LABOUR and SNP will be vying to be the biggest party, but independents are again likely to hold the key to who forms the administration. Since 2003, matters outwith council control have caused concern. The Forth Valley Health Board approval of a PPP hospital in Larbert replacing Falkirk Infirmary has been contentious, with the council leader resigning from the health board. The council is also objecting to plans for the 136-mile line of pylons, from Beauly to Denny, encroaching on the area. The proposal has attracted thousands of other objections. Standing down are Provost James Johnston, who has been a councillor for 40 years, and another long-serving member, Patrick McCafferty from Grangemouth. |
