The Parties - April 12

Libdems
Launched their manifesto in Edinburgh, with promises to focus on renewable energy and youth services. Nicol Stephen was put on the defensive over his local income tax plans, and left uncertainty over the possibility of him supporting an independence referendum. He later took part in conversation with The Herald's Alf Young at Glasgow's Mitchell Library about raising Scotland's business growth rate.

Labour
Deputy leader Cathy Jamieson was left politically bruised by a Newsnight Scotland encounter over council tax reform plans, prompting a demand for more detail on her party's plans from SNP deputy leader Nicola Sturgeon. Jack McConnell was in Aberdeen promising more Asbo action against boy racers.

SNP
Alex Salmond campaigned in Aberdeen, highlighting promises to help rejuvenate high streets, with a cut in business tax for shops.

Conservatives
David Cameron visited RAF Leuchars in Fife and Perth, where he campaigned with Scottish leader Annabel Goldie. In advance, he penned an article that attacked Labour for its defence of the Union with England. "It would be wrong to suggest Scotland could not be another successful, independent country," he wrote, but argued the case should be made by arguing what could be lost by separation.

Others
Greens screened an election broadcast showing it is gathering thespian support.

Scottish Socialists were leafleting commuters to tell them about their plans for free public transport, and Solidarity complained not enough attention is being given to poverty.
