Wendy Alexander attacked SNP plans for 3p on income tax to abolish council tax, saying: "The SNP have made assumptions that do not stand up to scrutiny. A 5% income tax rate would need to be applied to all taxable income to raise the revenue that council tax currently yields."
SNP
Alex Salmond promised extra police to deal with antisocial behaviour and
off-licences that sell alcohol to under-18s. He said he would clamp down on heavy drink price discounts. He added: "The SNP is committed to increasing the number of community police officers by 1000 and ensuring a more visible police presence."
LibDems
The party pledged £40m to provide 200 more dentists, a new dental school in Aberdeen, and more dental check-ups in schools. "The Scottish Liberal Democrats will invest in new dentists that people across Scotland need," said Nicol Stephen.
Conservatives
Annabel Goldie said the Tories would make no coalition deals after May 3. "I ask Messrs McConnell, Salmond, and Stephen which of their policies will they ditch in their self-serving pursuit of power? They will slag each other off constantly in the campaign."
Greens
The party claimed BBC and STV polls showed that the Greens' opposition to private finance deals and commitment to the environment put them in touch with most Scots.
